Autumn 1 2024
Let all that you do be done in Love
1 Corinthians 16:14
This half term we will be exploring the question:
DESIGN AND TECHNOLOGY
We have had a good start to the year and have been busy with learning new skills. As part of our design and technology project we have been learning two basic sewing stitches before we do it for real. We are designing and making a Roman headdress which we will wear ourselves. We have planned our idea and will begin to make it this week. We really need to use our persevering and noticing muscles- it's tricky!
RE- Churches from around the world.
We have been learning about global Christianity and researched places around the world where we can find Christian churches. We used the chrome books to choose our own location and Googled images of churches. Some of these were magnificent, large buildings and some were made of very unusual materials. Here are a few of our findings:
SCIENCE- LIVING THINGS IN OUR ENVIRONMENT
In science, we went outside in our orchard area to observe living things in their local habitats. We had to draw and label what we had found and say where it was found naturally. We will use this information to help us group the animals and create identification keys.
ENGLISH
As part of our class novel 'The Lost Happy Endings' we have been matching up the endings of fairy tale stories and thinking of an alternate ending. Some of our ideas were very creative and not a happy ending at all!!
DESIGN AND TECHNOLOGY
We are so impressed with everyone this afternoon for their amazing D&T work. Everyone has been sewing designs on leaves for their Roman headdress and chose how they wanted it to be worn. The finished pieces look fabulous and we are, quite rightly, very proud of ourselves. What a super end to a good day.
