Autumn 2 2023
Let all that you do be done in Love
1 Corinthians 16:14
This half term our learning challenge is: "When would you have a party?"
This week we have been thinking about birthdays. We shared our own knowledge and experience of birthdays and thought about what we might need for a birthday party.
We have read the story of Kippers Birthday by Mick Inkpen, and decideed to have birthday party for Kipper at the end of the week. First we thought about what we already know about parties and looked at lots of things which we might have at a party. We needed to make invitations and decorations.
This week we have been working on our story telling skills using hellicopter stories. We worked collaboratively to act out our stories and showed respect for one another as we performed on stage. We were very excited to have the opportunity to walk to Hyde Town Hall where we performed our helicopter stories for teachers from across Tameside as they found out how exciting it can be using helicopter stories in the classroom.
We Remember
This week we have been showing compassion and respect for all the soldiers who have lost their lives. We have learnt all about Rememberence Day and the significance of the poppies. On the Friday we held our poppy's and were silent for 2 minutes whilst we thought about how brave the soldiers had been. We also enjoyed taking part in lots of poppy crafts.
This week we have been learning all about the celebration of Diwali. We have retold the story of Rama and Sita and looked at the similarities and differences between this celebration and celebration we might have at home and in school.
We enjoyed making our own Diva lamps using salt dough we had made ourselves.
This week we have been exploring shape and using our noticing muscle as we looked at the book "Crescent Moons and Pointed Minarets".
As we looked at the features of the Mosque in the book we compared it to our own experinces of the Mosque.
We looked at and named lots of 2D and 3D shapes.
