Spring 2 2024
Maths
In maths this half term, we have been looking at decimals, fractions and percentages. We have been looking at tenths, hundredths and thousandths and have been learning how to convert between fractions and decimals. We have looked at numbers with more than one decimal place and have been ordering and comparing them. We have moved our learning on by looking at percentages and finding equivalent decimals and fractions.
English
In English, we have continued our learning on Skellig. We have looked at the characters emotions throughout the chapters and why they have felt that way. We have linked this to the zones of regulations that we have in school and linked their actions and emotions to the zones. We have used these emotions and actions to write a letter as one of the characters explaining how they have felt and acted.
Science
This half term, we have moved onto a new topic of properties of materials. We have started this by performing an experiment looking at how gases, liquids and solids all interact.
Next, we have looked at dissolving and performed an experiment to see what affects the rate sugar dissolves in water. We performed a fair test to see if the temperature of the water, amount of water or the amount of sugar affected how quickly the sugar dissolved.
Geography
We have been looking at why you would visit London. We have looked at ordnance maps and map symbols and explored an atlas to help us to find different cities in the UK. We have looked at what makes a city a capital city and researched the different languages, religions and landmarks in London.
