Let all that you do be done in Love
1 Corinthians 16:14
This half term we will be exploring the question:
Geography
As part of our geography learning we've been learning all about Antarctica! We already knew that Antarctica is one of the Earth's seven continents (we actually know a great song about all of them) but we've also been exploring how different it is to Hyde. Antarctica is very cold and people don't live there permanently but explorers and scientists research the continent all the time, so we thought about what we would need to be researchers in Antarctica. We decided that warm clothes and special equipment would be great to have in Antarctica but we might have to leave some of our favourite things behind (footballs, sandals, summer hats etc.) We've also looked at maps of Antarctica and the sort of animals and plants that we would find there. Did you know that there are no polar bears in Antarctica? There are plenty of penguins though!
PE
In PE we've been doing a lot of learning about following instructions and working as a team. We love to keep healthy by moving our bodies during games and dancing, which makes our heart beat faster and get stronger! Our favourite dance is Waka Waka!
Maths
We've had a busy half term for maths learning! As well as counting backwards and forwards to 50, we've been learning to count in our 2's, 5's and 10's. We love learning songs to help us remember these patterns. This half term we have also been learning about grouping numbers together and making things equal, we know that equal means 'the same' and have for things to be equal they have to be balanced!
Art
This half term we have been exploring the work of artist Jeffrey Koons, who makes really incredible sculptures! Our art has been all about bright colours and making patterns. As part of our learning we've been mixing colours, printing patterns (even with lego bricks!) and drawing our very own balloon dogs. We love creating bright and fun pieces of art work and have really enjoyed putting our artistic skills to the test to make a Jeffrey Koons inspired piece!
