Spring 1 2025
Let all that you do be done in Love
1 Corinthians 16:14
This half term we will be exploring the question:
English
In English we are working extremely hard on our SATS writing. With the help of our detailed plans, we are rewriting the fiction book 'Ride the Wind', and including elements from our 'ladder to success' to ensure our writing is year six standard. Take a look at the hard work the children have put into their plans and imagine the outcomes of their story!

Maths
We have been very busy learning how to measure angles in Maths. We started by exploring and measuring with protractors, moving on to leanring rules of angles (such as a straight line equals 180°, angles around a point equal 360°). All of this knowledge is now helping us work out angles in triangles. Year Six are doing a super job at remembering all of the different facts about triangles as well as angles, keep it up!

Science
In Science this term, Year Six are learning about the Circulatory System!
We began by learning the three main componants of this, and how they work together to keep us alive. As we progressed we looked closer at the heart, it's different parts, and their functions. Once we learnt all of the important facts and terminology, Year Six were lucky enough to see a REAL cow's heart! The class put their rubber gloves on, and explored the different parts, noticing how it is different to a human heart! Well done for getting stuck in Year Six!

As well as looking at a heart in detail, we've also been carring our own experiments out. We have looked into what happens to our heart rates when we rest, exercise, and recover. Year Six were really passionate about making this a fair test, and evaluated this when it came to writing the investigation up.
Also as part of our learning in Science, we have participated in a fun experiment about the digestive system! This was really helpful to in us understanding each different stage of the digestive process and what exactly happens.
History
In History we are starting to compare the Golden Ages of Islam with the Dark ages. It has been very interesting so far, and Year Six are beginning to use secondary sources to explore the different trade routes that were used, helping us to identify the drastic change in todays society.
Art
Mrs Webster is teaching Year Six art this term. So far we have investigated different facial features, and where they are situated on a face. The class have experimented with different sized eyes, nose, ears ect. and placing them in different places on the face. We can't wait to see how our art progresses.
Music
Mr. Roast is doing a super job working with Year Six in their music lessons. We can't wait to perfrom what we are learning at the end of term!
PE
Year Six are loving Cricket with the coach. Each week we learn a new skill and how we can use this in our cricket matches. Well done Year Six for getting in the team spirit and competing in cricket matches!
